Quilly is the pseudonym of Charlene L. Amsden, who lives on The Big Island in Hawaii. When she is not hanging out with Amoeba, she is likely teaching or sewing. Or she could be cooking, taking photographs, or even writing. But if she's not doing any of that, she's probably on Facebook or tinkering with her blog.

  1. Rendall — I was touched to find this poem. Leaving here will be hard, but by the time I go, these kids will have moved on anyway.

  2. Okay! I’ll play! I’m in the middle of my Bible study right now — so guess my topic!

    Jesus
    Teacher, Redeemer
    Loving, Giving, Caring
    Died for us
    Savior

  3. I love it! You have taught this child well and they have appreciated it. What a lovely thank you to receive.

Poetry was never really my forte but I’ll give a cinquain a go.

  4. Quilly – Answering questions is EASY! It’s coming up with interesting topics each day that’s the killer! YOU amaze me! …. and so they became members of the mutual admiration society… and lived almost happily ever after.

  5. Hello!! I am new here because I had to find out just exactly what this new kind of poetry is…I have seen your name all over other blogs!! I am a friend of Melli’s!! So guess I am not too bad!! ((smile)). Come visit me sometime when you find time that is..Sandy

  6. OK, I’m game.

    Wisdom,
    earned, shared,
    Pronounce, proclaim, ordain
    From the mountaintop,
    Prattle

  7. Sandy — welcome! I’ll pop by your place sometime this evening. In the meantime, look around, enjoy yourself.

Doug — I would like to argue that wisdom and prattle aren’t synonyms. I would like to, but can’t.

  8. Kat — the nice thing about keeping this stuff on the blog, is that when I start feeling like I’m not making a difference, I can go back and revisit the bighter and/or funnier moments.

  9. I have to confess I’m lost when it comes to nouns and verbs and when you mentioned synonyms, I knew a Cinquain would be beyond me. I guess the world will have to deal with that.

  10. Bazza — for sopmeone who doesn’t know what they are, you usually use words pretty well.

Pauline — pretty amazing for a kid, huh?

  11. Kudos to teacher and student!
