Aloha Limited

Those of you who envy me Hawaii, enjoy this reality: there is a banana-sized flying cockroach behind my refrigerator. I swatted it out of the air last night and it scurried under the fridge. It just peeked out and looked at me. One of us will be dead before the end of the day. That cockroach will find no aloha here.

Btw — if you think aloha means both hello and good-bye, you have been misled.

Quilly is the pseudonym of Charlene L. Amsden, who lives on The Big Island in Hawaii. When she is not hanging out with Amoeba, she is likely teaching or sewing. Or she could be cooking, taking photographs, or even writing. But if she's not doing any of that, she's probably on Facebook or tinkering with her blog.

  1. Polona — he heard the threat. I’ve not seen wing nor whisker since this a.m.

Melli — maybe pictures of his funeral …

Silver — I am certain they don’t call them roaches, but I know a roach when I see one ….

  2. Sorry about the bugs! All that heat and humidity make living good for them as well. I enjoyed the dictionary spot for information on “aloha” a word with much emotion and meaning. I will now use it with more respect. 🙂
wishing you a day free of crawling insects 🙂 hugs

  3. Hope your day goes well and the wee critter that is giving you grief gets to meet it’s maker. Just remember though we are all God’s Creatures living on this planet.

To be you living in Paradise having to deal with these things 🙂

  4. Pauline — today brings another new critter ….

Bill — the bug is alive and well and “rattling” at me from under the fridge. It makes buzzing noises when I get too close.
