PROJECT GREEN: TAKE EIGHT

Project Green began with Anna of Anna Carson’s Photography.

What could be more fitting for Sunday then (a 147 year old) church?
The last restoration was 2001-2003

St. Augustine’s By the Sea
Waikiki’s only Catholic Church

Quilly is the pseudonym of Charlene L. Amsden, who lives on The Big Island in Hawaii. When she is not hanging out with Amoeba, she is likely teaching or sewing. Or she could be cooking, taking photographs, or even writing. But if she's not doing any of that, she's probably on Facebook or tinkering with her blog.

  1. I Quilly, I tried to click and scroll, didn’t work for me.

I wanted to see more,….:):) Lovely church.

  2. thanks for the visit by my place.

neat shot. i really like the angle. the architecture is interesting and not quite what i would expect from a 147 year old church.

  3. What a great shot of the church! That’s a really good angle. And shows the green well in the light.

Seems the little one has picked up on the green theme. And the last shot of the lagoon – so tranquil. I can see the water coming over like you said. Looks great.

Last post i commented on – i was dead tired. Half asleep as asking questions. Duh. Ignore me when I’m lack that! (My family do).

  4. Great shot, especially the one on the other site with the Burger King. Sadly, I’ve eaten at that Burger King a few times.

There’s an award over at my place for you…

  5. All of the places of “Looking” pointing heavenward … whilst having their “feet” spread solidly on the ground. Methinks a potential message in that. Beautiful!

  6. totally nice shot. i’m annoyed i can’t place it. it means i’m starting to forget bits of hawaii. dangit.

  7. I love the lines in this image. It’s a great find for project green. I just heard about the project you’re hosting starting Thursday with the alphabet. I’m an elementary school teacher so this could be really easy. But I’ll try to challenge myself and steer away from easy. Of course in a pinch, you never know. 🙂

  8. Andrew — the angles were why I took the photo!

Melli — like frosting on an already glorious cake.

Nea — I’m sorry. The link is good because others made the journey.

Doug — volcanoes count victims, but never the cost. And de nada we enjoyed doing the reading.

Polona — the other view is what first called my attention to the church.

    Dr. John — copper.

Lime — I don’t believe this is part of the original structure.

Carletta — thanks, that’s what drew the attention of my camera.

Cath — I always try to answer the questions asked on my blog. Sometimes my answers are less than serious or constructive.

Carolyn — an award?! I’ll be right over!

John-Michael — I was impressed by the churches hold on prominent beach property.

Holly — right off Waikiki beach — literally. A Burger King sits in front of it though, so it isn’t instantly noticible except in a very comical fashion. Did you check the link to the other photo?

Lacey — thank you. I hope you plan to return and share in the alphabet fun.

Robert — I taught 5th grade for years and am currently teaching pre-K. The little kids zap my brain and alphabet is about all I can handle ….

David — thanks. I was angling for a compliment.
