Ella the Mattress Tester

So far, Ella’s favorite place in Hawaii seems to be my dining room table!  We had French Toast this morning and Ella devoured her’s — though she was seriously offended by the sausage on her plate and says she feels meat eating is barbaric.

The sarong becomes a bib!

Then Ella went with us into town where we signed the lease on our house, then went shopping.  Ella had a great time in Slumber World.  She bounced on ALL of the mattresses.  I was quite concerned and tried to stop her.  The sales guy didn’t mind.  He said they sold good quality beds and a few bounces from a baby elephant wouldn’t hurt them a bit.   I sure hope he’s right because OC bought one of those beds!

The land lady left a lovely dining room table set in the house.  She also left a glass end-table and a lovely crystal lamp.   Tomorrow we are picking up some lovely, very inexpensive dressers.  We’re furnishing the bedroom only.  The rest of the stuff can come from second hand stores or yard sales as we find things we like.  Ella likes the berber carpeting, so she completely agreed with that plan.

Ella lives in Maryland with Melli, but she is currently visiting Hawaii.  She might come and spend some vacation time with you, too, if you can convince Melli that you know how to care for and nurture an elephant.

Quilly is the pseudonym of Charlene L. Amsden, who lives on The Big Island in Hawaii. When she is not hanging out with Amoeba, she is likely teaching or sewing. Or she could be cooking, taking photographs, or even writing. But if she's not doing any of that, she's probably on Facebook or tinkering with her blog.

  1. How handy that the sarong becomes a bib… maybe I need to get myself one in my size, haha. You must be having such fun with Ella, taking her out and about with you and watching her play…. and eat. I wonder what they people in the stores thought when you came in with this cute baby elephant, and what they told their families this evening when they got home from work. Did you take any photos of Ella in the stores with you? Perhaps of her jumping on the beds??

  2. Well, I’m so glad Ella is being well FED! I hope she doesn’t cost you a TON to send on to the next stop! 😉 Bed bouncing… sounds fun! I like to bounce on them too!

  5. oh my you have been busy while I have been entertaining company. Ella is way too cute and seems like a very well behaved guest. Does she like car rides?
    Congratulations on the house!

  6. Who’d a thunk I could be jealous of a stuffed elephant. That girl knows how to live. Glad she is having such a good time with you.

Congrats on your house. That’s wonderful news. Close to work is good. Glad you are still liking (I’m assuming) your new job. I am an awful blog visitor but I always enjoy my visits here few and far between though they may be.

Yes, my friend I was careful. Lots of new and wonderful experiences for me sometimes we have to lose in order to avoid fear of gaining. Love to you

  8. It looks like Ella is really settling in there. I love French toast too! It is to die for and I had to educate the hubby on what it was! *sigh*

Keep up the good work Ella. You can come test out a mattress for us if you like. Time for a new bed…
