See Wall? Sea Wall!

That is a lava formation OC is striding across — though looks are deceiving, it is not at all a smooth surface and he was picking his way. This particular bit of lava is jutting up at the edge of the sea and makes a natural seawall. It is about 40 feet from the beach edge of the wall to the water line, give or take a bit, depending on the weather and the tide.
You do recall that I said it wasn’t all level, right?
The plants and animals that live on the wall have a very hard scrabble existence, but it sure provides great photo ops!
This fella was none too keen on having his picture taken and he was already difficult to see before he climbed over the side of the rock.
This fella was a bit skittish, too. In Hawaii we call him Ulili E. You would call him Sandpiper. OC says his name is Fred.

Oh WOW! That is awesome! All of it! Are those “hermit crabs” in that first “hardscrabble” shot? In the little swirly shells? Just wondering… That really is amazing! I hope OC had sandals on… that looks like it could really tear up some bare feet!
Great pictures. Is it dangerous to walk there? We had breakwaters which you could walk out on but the waves would make it dangerous at times.The pictures on the music video were os beautiful.

Gattina — it is beautiful, and so was the weather despite the rain out at sea.
Nessa — I loved Iz before I moved here. He had magic.

Melli — the shells were full of snail, sorry. The only crab is the one in the 4th picture — though sometimes the one in the first picture is crabby.
Betty — it would have been dangerous soon, the tide was coming in, but while it is out this ledge is dry.
Gel — Iz was special.
Cath — the music and the land compliment one another beautifully. The souls of the people often reflect the beauty they live in.
Juliana — I came home with what we think was a marine leech attached to the back of my hand. Not all sea treasures are created equal.
So pretty, and it doesn’t look too cold there either. Unlike here. We had three degrees last night and the windchill was probably minus thirty.
Iz is wonderful. So enjoyed his song this morning and I’m thinking maybe you do live in paradise.
Thanks for sharing this with us Quilly. The photos and the Hawaiian music are all beautiful. Sad Iz died at such a young age, though not surprising considering his weight. A fabulous singer. Thanks for introducing me to him and his music.
