The Best Laid Plans …

The Word Count is still 1001.

I had it all worked out.  I sliced up my time and fit it into neat little mental compartments.  I said to myself, “This compartment is unalterable” (thus alerting Murphy — he of Murphy’s Law — that I needed a visit.)  So, yesterday when I went into work and my boss said, “Down-size.”  I spent the evening researching jobs and filling out applications.  It seems that in the face of starvation (figurative) unalterable time schedules can be altered.

Stay tuned ….

  1. weeeelll… it could be Murphy’s way of saying ‘well here, focus on writing full time and make it profitible! It’s your new job.. surprise!’…

  2. Sorry to hear that Quilly, When one door closes, another opens. Maybe this is your time to write that book.

  3. Oh my God Quilly, I’m so sorry! Thom told me. This sucks! I hope you’ll find something real soon. Or maybe it’s Murphy’s way of telling you to write more. Because you ARE a very good writer? Hugs dear, I hope this all works out well for you soon.

    1. Jientje — they haven’t let me go entirely, so I won’t be wholly without funds, but we’re going to be on a beans and rice diet here, I think!

      1. Rice is pretty expensive lately, no?

Shucks, that sucks and I’m sorry to hear.
I keep my fingers crossed for you that it all works out in the end!!

  4. WHAT???? Are you telling me they COULD live without you??? NO WAY! You gotta be kiddin’ me! WOW! God must have something HUGE in store for you! But I sure feel sorry for those poor shmucks that let ya go…..

    1. Melli — while I was gone a sweet, young college kid came in and did my job very well — for $5.00 per hour less than I do. That gave the boss an Epiphany.

  5. Did you loose your job or did the boss just threaten. Pennies old supervisor would threaten every week. Anyway it was time to start looking for a new one.
The odd thing was that I thought as the others have that this may be the time to write.

    1. Betty — I did not “lose” my job, nor did they threaten to fire me. They cut my hours from 30 to 10 hours per week and took away my health care.

    1. Tony — yeah. Has anybody contemplated what happens when the chasm between the “haves” and “have nots” grows too wide? Maybe they should ask Marie Antoinette.
