The 12th Dozen & a Silly Haiku, Too

random dozen

It’s that time again! Lidna over at 2nd Cup of Coffee has come up with 12 more questions.  That’s 144 now, all totaled.  I just love her memes. They make me think!

1. If you could master one sport, what would it be?
Ping Pong!

2. When you make a major purchase, do you go with your gut instinct, or do you do research to make an informed decision?
Yes. I research to eliminate known lemons, then I go with my gut for the final selection.

3. There is an old kids’ game that says you can find out what your movie star name would be by using your middle name as your first name and the name of the street you grew up on as your last. What is your movie star name?
Lois College

4. Would you rather give up your favorite music or your favorite food?
Music. I’ve been homeless & hungry. It is sad to live without music. One can’t live without food.

5. There are two types of banana preferences. One is pristine yellow, almost to the point of being green; the other is spotty and more ripe. Which is your preference?
That depends, am I eating it or making Banana Bread?

6. Your favorite tree is?
My favorite tree still stands only in my memories — and memoirs.

7. On a scale of 1-10, how tech savvy are you?
Probably 7.

8. Has H1N1 touched your family?
Yes, my cousin Linda had it. She was quarantined in her home home and saw no one but her husband for over two weeks. When we spoke she said that those two weeks were severely testing 28 years of marital bliss.

9. Are you an analytical person, or do you just accept things the way they are without questioning or scrutinizing?
Who wants to know the answer to this question? Why is s/he asking? What is s/he hoping to gain? Where is this information being kept? When do I have to decide whether or not I’m answering?

10. Is your personality more like that of a dog, cat, or Koala?
Cat. Sweet, friendly, occasionally haughty, with hidden claws.  And, (thank you Rosidah), Blogthings agrees!

You Are a Cat

You are very independent and reclusive. No one really understands you, and you like it that way!

You are quite clever and ingenious. You can get yourself out of any sticky situation.

You are confident and cool tempered. You know you have many advantages and resources to draw from.

No matter what life throws at you, things always seem to work out your way.

11. Do you keep in touch with friends you made years ago?
Yes! I still contact grade school & high school friends regularly.

12. You are checking out at a grocery store. In the express lane, there are more people than the regular lanes, but of course, their load is less than those in the regular lanes. Which lane do you choose (assuming you qualify for the express lane) and why?
The wrong one. Because that’s just how my life goes.

  1. Wow, the quiz really did confirm your answer! I was secretly hoping for something like that, but it turns out that I’m a cow 😉 . Thanks for the shout out, Quilly. I’m glad to read that your cousin Linda has recovered. She must have been going through a very tough situation. I loved reading all your answers, including the memoir. Have a wonderful week 🙂

      1. Yeah, Rosidah — you can do this! Remember, we Jenn isn’t looking for great art, just a light-heart & a smile — I know you have that down pat!

    1. Nessa — well, on an island staying lost is a bit difficult. All roads lead somewhere I recognize. And, yes, getting lost is half the fun.

  2. Life in the wrong grocery line…hmmm….on the other hand, you are so friendly and positive, it may be that God gives you the long lines so you can bless those in it. Didja ever think of that? I sometimes think about it when I’m stuck in line, but then I go back to being impatient. Sorry, God!

    Have a great Wednesday, Q!

  3. You Are a Monkey
You are a very fascinating creature. People are interested in every little thing you do.
You are smart, curious, and clever. You are naturally witty, and you have a great sense of humor.

You can see things from many different angles, and you always have an interesting perspective on life.
You are likely agile and playful. You stay physically fit simply by staying active.

So I am a monkey. Craving banana bread.

  4. Great answers Quilly, I could almost swear that Thom answered #9 for you. 🙂

I took the test and was told I am a Lion, Really I feel more like a sheep.

  5. Apparently, I am a Chicken:
“You are a naturally curious and inquisitive being. You are often poking your nose where it doesn’t belong! Collecting nuggets of knowledge is important to you. You enjoy knowing everything you can. You are very independent and strong willed. You don’t like to be bossed around, and you do as you please. You are quite determined and able to take on challenges. You will “peck away” at a problem until it’s gone.”

I agree with being strong willed, but I might be more ostrich than chicken!
That said, Ping Pong?? I’m curious!

  6. We had the same answer to #12. 🙂

The quiz said I was a raccoon, but there were only two sentences that sounded like me at all.

#4 asked about favorite food, not food in general. I don’t think anyone would give up food rather than music.

  7. Hey Quilly, this looks like a fun one again. 🙂 I think you would like our opinons now.

Master Piing Pong and you could reinvent Nixon diplomacy techniques before you come back to the states.

Kids middle name, Vernon. I would not have a last name as I was six miles away from a street. I could co-star with Prince. Vernon and Prince.

Too bad about Linda’s quarintine. Don’t ever fess up to being sick if you don’t have to. I’ve seen passengers on cruise ships quarentined for mor that half the cruise.

Quilly analytical? At least she can remember their names. I can’t.

Would you reconsider you answer on #12 please. Think of being an ‘optimist’ or a ‘pesimist.’ Which one do you want your readers to think that you are?

All in all this is neat and fun. Your answers were great!
    ..
On college, I went a year and a half for 14 academic hours that transfered. Then I sat out for eleven years until returning to school for another eleven years. I finished my college at age 42.
Thanks for telling me yours. Telling that sometimes inspires others to get more education.
    ..

    1. Jim — I would prefer my readers to think I am a comedian. That is how I formulate my answers — never spoil a good story for the sake of strict truths.

  8. Hey Q – how are you feeling these days? Hope you’re feeling human again after being so sick.

Love the haiku – I identify. So much so that I just bought a GPS, which was AWESOME to have on our vacation. Hubby wanted her left on even when we were back in familiar waters and didn’t need direction anymore, which was pretty darn funny 😉

    1. Jenn — I am much better thanks. Sorry I missed last week, it was crazy-weird and I was ill. No GPS for me. Too much money. Google directions are free.

  9. Quilly… she didn’t ask you to give up ALL food — just your FAVORITE food — or your FAVORITE music! Had I played I would have given up my favorite FOOD — cuz I’m NOT giving up my PRAISE MUSIC! NO way! But I didn’t play today… these questions didn’t… call out to me!

    1. Melli — I was being even more specific than you. Give up my one favorite food or my owe favorite song. My one favorite food doesn’t change as often as my one favorite song does …..

  10. Unfortunately I have no time to do the test but I think I must be a cat. I am still in Egypt, we return on Sunday. I will be happy to see Mr. G and the cats, but certainly not the grey Belgian weather, lol !

  11. Oh my goodness, we’re twins! 🙂

Check out my meme to see the ping pong dream!

Loved your answer? to being analytical – funny!

Loved your cat description; will have to check out blogthings.

  12. ah. this could almost be me answering. not sure bout #1, though… i have tried and mastered a few sports but none to perfection (not ping pong, though).
no middle names in slovenia, and the street name would sound ridiculous to any non-slavic person so… pft, never wanted to be a movie star anyway
and, with a few exceptions, i’m not the ‘keep in touch’ person
off to take that quiz now although they keep annoying me with foul results 😉

    1. i’m sorry for invading your place but i have to add that the site wouldn’t post my comment unless i submit it twice (spammer, see)

  13. Oh wow, I said Ping Pong too. I took the quiz and it came out Cat also. Loved your haiku, I’m still giggling. Best line….what line do you get into….”the wrong line!” YOu go girl!

  14. Wow – someone else actually calls it Ping Pong. I keep hearing people say table tennis these days.

Loved your answers. And according to the quiz, I’m a lion, which Im not sure I agree with! LOL It wasn’t one of the choices anyway!

  15. Forgot about ping pong…I love it! Not sure I want to know what animal I am : )

Loved the haiku…my husband likes to say I couldn’t find my way out of a paper bag. Sadly it’s true. I keep reminding him though that after 25 years he knows this about me so WHY does he keep asking me for directions???

    1. Joyce — I often can’t tell right from left, so asking me of giving me directions usually results in frustration of humor, depending on one’s mood.

    1. Susanne — I am not entirely certain that I am analytical. I will have to give the thought more study before I accept it as fact.

  16. >>>Ping Pong Queen but oh so many other sports I have not mastered!
Hahahah to your answer to #9
Love your movie star name. IT has a definite ring to it!

    1. Gel — I thought my movie star name sounded pretty ordinary. Everybody is tickled by #9. I almost didn’t write it because it was so long, but am glad now that I did.

  17. Your story about the tree was great! I could just see it happening!

Your answer to number 9 cracked me up. I think you may be analytical …

We’re kindred sisters on #12. I have never got into the right line in my life!
