In Case You Were Wondering ….

Tis the season to be stretched thin fa la la la la la la la pft!

Sunday mornings we wake, run around frantically getting ourselves together, and then race out the door for church, where Amoeba sits for an hour and twiddles his thumbs while I teach Sunday School.  Afterward we attend church.  After that Amoeba attends choir practice and I sit and twiddle my thumbs.

From 1:30 to 3:15 we are free to do whatever — but since it is at least a 30 minute drive home (and a 30 minute drive back) there is no point in returning home.  This week we went to a local restaurant, had some lunch, and chatted.

At 3:15 Amoeba returns to church for Praise Band rehearsal — which runs to 4:45.  The Praise & Prayer Service is at 5:00 p.m., after which we attend fellowship time (church dinner).  So, Sundays we leave home at 8:30 a.m. and do not return until about 8:15 p.m.

Today — Monday — I had to go into the Employment Office and wrestle with them over my unemployment claim.  The computer keeps cancelling me and no one seems to know why.  I could hazard a guess since I have been unemployed since September (9weeks) yet have only received pay for 5).  Kicking people out of the system for no reason keeps the money in the state coffers longer, doesn’t it?

After my tangle with The Labor Department (I have to return tomorrow and start the whole process over) I decided I deserved a treat, so I took myself to the Northside where they were supposed to experience record waves.  Yep — I took my camera with me.  Stay tuned for more shots.

In the meantime, I hope you understand why you didn’t hear from me today, and why Punny Monday completely skipped my mind.  I had a good one, too, so we’re going to have a Tuesday Edition of Punny Monday.  It’ll be up at 11:59 p.m.!

    1. Pft, yourself. Punny Monday will be up at 11:59 p.m. tonight and you WILL NOT get the correct answer because your mind will take a totally weird wrong track as usual.

  1. I thought Sundays were a day of rest!

And boy could we have some conversations about government money; we’re going through the same thing. Between disabled kids and a laid-off husband, we get a lot of promises…and a lot of paperwork…and a lot of frustration… not a lot of money in the end. They make you beg and beg, and if the administrative costs involved in not delivering and juggling claims has got to be higher than just paying people in the first place, I’m thinking. Good luck with that whole situation!

  2. Maybe the computer kicks you off the unemployment rolls because it reads your blog and thinks you’re busy enough, thank you.

  3. Actually, I just thought maybe you weren’t doing Punny Monday while you WERE doing the Christmas riddles…. I did coming looking for it yesterday though. I didn’t come looking for it today! LOL!

  4. That really sounds like a busy Sunday. But I would rather be busy that way, then to just sit around. I´m sure you enjoy the fellowship at your church or else you wouldn´t be doing it right?

  5. I am sorry to hear about your frustrations with the Employment Office. I don’t envy you. I hope it all works out. Your Sunday’s sound like a long day, but at least you and Amoeba and the Lord are spending some quality time together. Looking forward to seeing some of your “monster wave” photos.

  6. Sounds like some of our Sundays. I was home twice to use the toilet and pick up/drop off kids during my 12-hour experience. Whew!
At least you had some down-time in there…

And I still recall my time in Hawaii in 23 years ago, when there were high wave warnings on the North Shore. Yes, we hurried on over to see and experience the power of the ocean.

  7. Amen to your first line! What a busy day.

In my experience Sundays are pretty quiet in the blogosphere — I think many post “light” because we’re busy with other things on Sunday.

Like others, I just assumed Punny Monday was preempted due to the 12 days riddles — that’s sorta like 12 days of puns and winners.

  8. Your Sundays are jam packed. Sorry your having trouble with the Gov, truth be told Quilly I had no idea you were out of work I am so terribly sorry. My fingers are crossed for you that things improve.
    *hugs*

  9. Sometimes these paper works can really get on the nerves. I hope that everything will get corrected soon and you’ll receive what’s your rights. Have a wonderful day 🙂
