Helpful Moving Tips

Everyday the clock ticks down on our move.  Am I on schedule?  What should I do?  How do I know?  Well, luckily for me, Dallas TX Movers has a 10 point checklist to help keep my thinking, planning and doing organized.

These are all great tips.  I have moved plenty of times and learned a few of them the hard way.  Where was Dallas Movers when I needed them?

Tip #4, pack by the room, makes packing and unpacking so much easier!  No carting things all over the house.  No wondering what box this, that or the other thing is hidden in.  I’d take this step one further and tell you to pack an overnight bag with all your hygiene necessities and clothes for the next day.  Pack clean bedding and keep it near your overnight bag so when you’re exhausted you can make the bed and fall in!  Make certain any kitchen necessities are readily at hand, too.

Tip #5, color code your labels, is new to me, but it makes so much sense!  Assign each room in your house a different color, then make the labels accordingly.  That is especially helpful if packing several bedrooms.  It also makes things easier for the movers, as in, “Oh, this bed has a blue label on it.  I will put it in the same bedroom as the boxes with the blue labels.”

Tip #6, keep lights on in old house until move out is complete, I really learned the hard way — except, I forgot to turn the lights on in my new home!  Walking around in the dark in an unfamiliar place filled with boxes is hard on toes and tempers, take my word for it!

There are also tips for managing kids and pets — thankfully we won’t need those this time around.  Dallas Texas Movers has been very helpful and we aren’t moving to or from Dallas!  If I were, I’d definitely be signing up for a free moving quote!

  1. Those ARE great tips! I want to move. Right up until the part where I think about packing. And then I’m AMAZINGLY happy right where I’m at!

  2. These really are good tips. I could have used them when we moved over a year and a half ago. We did have good movers though. Thank goodness because we did hear a few horror stories. However, we had great people on both ends.

  3. It’s getting closer! Yippie 😉
One of my friends who has moved a lot always makes up the beds first thing – that way if she’s just too tired to do anything else she can crash and start fresh the next morning.
Hey..I was cruising through your posts this week – wanted to see what the answer to Punny was and saw your George Washington conversation…I gotta check for sure but I think that Martha isn’t the town next to George but a truck stop/ restaurant in George…annndd…I think it closed recently. We used to go there when I was a kid and my dad would take us to Martha’s for dinner when he was over there hunting. Next time I talk to my buddy who grew up in George I’ll check for sure, cuz I could be wrong – happens a lot these days 😉
    Happy Weekend!
