Reflection of Disgust
On Saturday, Thom, Amoeba and I took a tour of the USS Bowfin, a WWII submarine. I caught a reflection of Thom in one of the shaving mirrors.
In case you were wondering what put that look of disgust and horror on his face, it was this:
A very cramped, not so privvy, privvy on the USS Bowfish. Thom thought it looked more like a torture devise than a toliet, and the lack of a door on the stall only compounded the horror for him.

I can’t begin to fathom being on a submarine like that. My husband and son would love visiting that.

Good gracious! It must be tough keeping that thing clean. I hate doing bathroom duty but that would make it even harder to get around. Sheesh!

My look would be quite like Thom’s. We visited a sub in Charleston — very cramped and claustrophobic, and with a tiny potty, too, but without all the extra pipes.
His expression is amazingly calm considering that second shot.
I would NEVER be able to serve in a submarine!
Okay — why TWO fire extinguishers outside of a toilet of all places?

I hope those pipes were carrying fluids neither hot nor cold! Either would give the sitter (sittee?) some discomfort beyond the lack of space and privacy…

ROFL! Oh my gosh! I SO concur with Thom! Never mind the fact that I have not YET been able to step FOOT on a submarine! WE tried to tour one in Baltimore Harbor. I had to let Dennis and his friends go on ahead. I waited it out on land!
