Unexpected Riches

Apparently before dying my grandfather left several million dollars in a Mexican bank in my name.  All these years that money has been accruing interest at an amazing rate and I, as my grandfather’s favorite grandson, am now one of the richest men in the world.

I think that is absolutely amazing, don’t you?  And apparently all I need to do to take possession of said money is pay a nominal (in light of all the money I will receive) $4000.00 dollar inheritance tax, which of course I am to send to the attorney representing my grandfather’s estate.

And I probably shouldn’t be mentioning this at all because if any of my grandfather’s other grandchildren hear about this, they can tie the money up in probate court for years to come.

Oh what should I do?  What should I do?

  1. Well, I don’t know about you but as for me I think that I would have to tell everyone just to get a good laugh. I mean, who else would be able to confuse you for a ‘he’?

    1. Cherie — you are absolutely right! That means I should probably check back into that deal about my long lost uncle’s oil well …..

i dont know where to start…

so i just decided to leave it up to the attorney to get the checks to me…

    1. Tilden — even if you walk every step of the way, I’m pretty sure you’ll get here long before any of those checks arrive.

  3. It’s like Jenn said – some idiots fall for it but what matters most is older folks who don’t have it all together and get caught up in all these money scams. That is a sad state of affairs.

Nice night shot below. Could almost be Waikiki. 🙂

    1. Carletta — yes. I shouldn’t make fun because I am very angry on behalf of those folks so desperate they will jump at such offers.

And thanks for the compliment on the photo. I much prefer Friday Harbor to Waikiki, rain and all.

  4. Sorry I’m late but a summer riding accident had actually put me out of commission longer than I would have liked.
I wish you and your family a Happy New Year
    All the best for 2010

    1. Oh, Jeff — if you’d only said something yesterday! I already put on option on both the Golden Gate and Brooklyn Bridge. I think owning 3 is just a bit excessive, don’t you?
