Looking Good & Shopping Smart

I just got my haircut.  It is a great haircut and I am very pleased with the way it looks and feels.  I am also very pleased with the hair stylist, who approved when I told her I was “going natural” and wanted the last of the dye removed from my hair.  She did however encourage me to seek “product” to manage my hair.

Unlike every other stylist I have ever encountered, there was no “product” for sale in this shop.  She did not drag me to some fancy glass case and insist I needed a $23.00 an ounce shampoo and 52 other related products.  She said, “Get a nice stiff gel and some hair spray.”  I like this lady.  I will be seeing her again.

In the meantime, I am checking out Shopwiki for the best prices on hair gels and sprays. I love Shopwiki because it compares products from a variety of stores and lets me choose the one offering the best prices. For instance, I love Paul Mitchell Hair Care products, so I type “Paul Mitchell” in the Shopwiki search engine and I get a plethora of results for stores selling Paul Mitchell Hair Care products. At that point all I have to do is click on the sites that interest me the most and decide where it is I want to shop.

One really cool Shopwiki feature that I truly appreciate is that they provide me with a link to every online store selling the product or products I am searching for. Shopwiki doesn’t just feature the stores that have subscribed to their service. They aggregate everything available and offer it all up for the convenience of their shoppers. And it is convenient, too. check it out!

  1. I got my hair cut the other day. The lady that does it comes to our home, Cuts, Cleans Up and charges only $10 (The other day she tried to charge us $20 for 3 haircuts, we gave her $35)

    1. Well, if the trip to your house wasn’t cost prohibitive (I live near Vancouver, B.C.) I’d be tempted to get my next haircut there!

  2. I wish I could say the same for MY most recent haircut! That woman will NEVER see me again! Oy VEY!!! I don’t know WHAT she did but it was the worst haircut I’ve ever had in my LIFE!

Pictures, please of your new adorable cut with the dye all gone??? Please… I did say please!

  3. Yeah, where’s the picture?? Come ON woman.

I LOVE my stylist. ShaMoo and I go to the same guy – we call him “Zohan”, but only because he’s a really CUTE Iranian ex-soldier… the similarity to the character end right there… hahaha He put up a poster for our group in his shop too, so we absolutely love him to pieces.

    1. Jenn — my stylist keeps my Avon books in her shop. I guess she does promote “product” but I sure can’t complain about those!

  4. Congratulations on the new do. And I so HATE the places that try to sell you all the products after. I’d rather pay a little more for the service then have to endure the onslaught. The last guy I went to regularly, had all the stuff, but only sold it if the customer asked for it. I’m convinced that he actually sold more that way. I had the advantage of poverty when learning to resist the sales pitches. 😛

  5. I’ve never heard of Shopwiki so coming here was well worth the effort. I don’t particularly care for Paul Michell, I prefer Nexxus.

  6. Haha, I would like to see what your new haircut looks like! If you’re very confident with the way it looks, then it must look really good on you. You would be more confident to talk to people too!

Now I want a haircut too.

  7. It is hard to find a good stylist and one who does not pressure you into purchasing their hair products. I sure hope your stylist does not up and leave before your next cut. The stylists around here never last long at one place. They move around so much and just when you find one you like, *poof*, she/he’s moved on and they will never let you know where they went.

    1. CL — my stylist has been in the same place for 27 years. Plus, even if she moves unless she leaves the island, she can’t get too far away.
