Paul wasn’t ready to give up. Working with his doctors, Paul created his own treatment regimen which healed his mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is a cancer of the lining of the major organs in your body.  Working with asbestos, being exposed to and breathing asbestos dust, is the number one risk factor for contracting mesothelioma.  Those most at risk of contracting the disease are: electricians, plumbers, pipe-fitters, construction workers, auto mechanics, navy sailors, anyone who worked in, on, around or with asbestos.  Mesothelioma is difficult to diagnose because the symptoms mimic so many other diseases.  In addition, it can take anywhere from 10 to 40 years, sometimes even longer, for asbestos-related conditions to manifest themselves.

The symptoms of pleural mesothelioma include: shortness of breath and chest pain due to an accumulation of fluid in the pleura. Peritoneal mesothelioma symptoms include weight loss, abdominal pain and swelling due to fluid build-up in the abdomen; bowel obstruction, blood clots; anemia; and fever. If the cancer spreads beyond the mesothelium (lining of the organs) to other parts of the body an assortment of other symptoms come into play as well.

Like all cancers, the treatment methods available vary widely and depend greatly on the health and age of the patient.  If you are suffering any of the above symptoms and have a history of working with asbestos, or if you have already been diagnosed with Mesothelioma Cancer — or any other cancer — Surviving Mesothelioma and Other Cancers: A Patient’s Guide, by Paul Kraus offers hope for healing and an active future. 1. I have a friend undergoing Chemo for breast cancer right now. I just wish she had some fight in her. I’m so afraid she is going to just lay down and die. 🙁
