Sherrilyn Kenyon ~ No Mercy

Sherrilyn Kenyon’s books always have solid plots. That is why I keep reading them. I liked The League series and I am enjoying the Dark Hunter series, but I would like them a whole lot more if she’d tone the sex down. No Mercy is part of the Dark Hunter series, but it can be read as a stand alone novel. Although after you read it, don’t be surprised to find yourself looking for the other books. Kenyon’s characters and stories always make me want more.

I love urban fantasy. It is edgy, new, and the ultimate in good verses evil storytelling. I don’t read as much urban fantasy as I used to because the constant wading through sex scenes gets tedious. Too many of the urban fantasy writers are sliding into soft-core porn and it turns me off. I haven’t quite reached that point with Kenyon yet, but this book came pretty close.

From the dust jacket:
Live fast, fight hard and if you have to die then take as many of your enemies with you as you can. That is the Amazon credo and it was one Samia lived and died by. Now in contemporary New Orleans, the immortal Amazon warrior is about to learn that there’s a worse evil coming to slaughter mankind than she’s ever faced before.

The Author:
The #1 New York Times bestselling author, Sherrilyn Kenyon, who is proud of her Cherokee heritage, lives a life of extraordinary danger… as does any woman with three sons, a husband, a menagerie of pets and a collection of swords that all of the above have a major fixation with. But when not running interference (or dashing off to the emergency room), she’s found chained to her computer where she likes to play with all her imaginary friends. With more than twenty-three million copies of her books in print, in over thirty countries, she certainly has a lot of friends to play with too.

In the past two years, her books have claimed the coveted #1 bestselling spot twelve times. This extraordinary bestseller continues to top every genre she writes. Her current series include: The Dark-Hunters, The League, Lords of Avalon, BAD Agency and the Chronicles of Nick. Since 2004, she has placed over fifty novels on the New York Times.

Her Lords of Avalon novels have been adapted by Marvel and her Dark-Hunter novels are now a New York Times bestselling manga published by St. Martins.

  1. Try the Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison. It’s a great urban fantasy that has a mild bit of sex but not over powering, nor smutty. It’s one of the series I get the new books as soon as they are released.
