Code Triage (Mercy Hospital), by Candace Calvert

Code Triage kept me turning pages way after my bedtime. Although leavened with moments of tenderness, humor and joy, it was a tension-filled, breath-holding read from start to finish. Calvert is now on my favorite-author list and I am looking for her other Mercy Hospital stories [Critical Care (Mercy Hospital, Book 1) and Disaster Status (Mercy Hospital, Book 2)]. Each book in the series is a stand alone story even though some of the same characters appear in each book.

About the Book:
Dr. Leigh Stathos likes her ER shifts fast, furious, and adrenaline-infused—“Treat ’em and street ’em”—with no emotional complications. Life’s taught her a soul-rending lesson: nothing lasts forever, including marriage. And the clock is ticking toward the end of hers. Then an unwelcome confrontation with “the other woman” begins a whole new set of lessons.

San Francisco police officer Nick Stathos never gives up, whether protecting his patrol neighborhood, holding fast to faith—or trying to save his marriage. Seven days is all he has to reach Leigh’s heart. But when a desperate act of violence slams Golden Gate Mercy Hospital into lockdown, it starts a chain of events that will change lives forever.

About the Author:
Candace Calvert is an ER nurse who landed on the “other side of the stethoscope” after an equestrian accident broke her neck.  Thanks to her own experience she believes that love, laughter–and faith–are the very best medicines of all.  Her writing career began when the inspirational account of her accident and recovery was published in Chicken Soup for the Nurse’s Soul. Calvert is the author of a madcap cruise mystery series in the secular market, and now eagerly follows her heart to write Christian fiction for Tyndale House. Her new medical drama series, launched with Critical Care in 2009, offers readers a chance to “scrub in” on the exciting world of emergency medicine, along with charismatic characters, pulse-pounding action, tender romance, humor, suspense—and a soul-soothing prescription for hope. Calvert was born in California but now lives in the Hill Country of Texas. She is the mother of two.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Tyndale House Publishers, Inc. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. 1. Karen — medical drama written by medical personnel might be easier to read sine (I trust) it will at least be accurate. And, although these are medical settings, the story itself isn’t about (primarily) the medical procedures.

  1. Thank you for this thoughtful and encouraging review of my newest medical drama–it’s an honor to have you “scrub in” with the Mercy Hospital team.

    Blessings,

    Candace
