Sunday 160 ~ A Spicy Mix-Up

New Year, New things

I am jumping on Monkey Man’s bandwagon and joining his Sunday 160. The idea is to tell a story that will fit in a text message, which is 160 characters.  Characters, not words.  That means the entire story, words, punctuation, and spaces may contain only 160 keystrokes. My first entry fairly sizzles!

She handed him two bottles. “Notice how much they look alike?”
“So you mixed them up?” He read the labels. “I guess the chili’s gonna be spicier than usual.”

Almost a true story, although the color did give me pause and I double checked before measuring out 3 tablespoonsful of cayenne pepper rather than 3 tablespoonsful of chili powder.

  1. Welcome to the Sunday 160. I am honored to have you join. I love how we both happened upon the chili theme for our 160….hot stuff indeed. Thanks for playing.

  2. Good thing you checked! I once accidentally used cinnamon instead of chili powder, which didn’t taste right at all — but my daughter-in-law used cinnamon in some of her Indian and other dishes. I tend to like my cinnamon with sweet things rather than spicy.

    1. Barbara — there is a pinch of cinnamon and a bit of cocoa in my chili. These are secrets I learned while living among Mexicans in Vegas.
