“It is done”, God said,
“It’s time to take a rest.”
The angels marveled at the sun and stars,
Jesus liked the Earth the best.

God’s workshop was a jumble,
And Gabriel started to clean.
He found a pile of extra parts,
And caused some kind of scene.

“You know I can’t stand waste, Lord.
“You’ve got to use these bits,”
“Can’t be done,” God told him.
“Nothing left there fits.”

“You’re the Lord!” Said Gabriel,
“Ain’t nothing you can’t do.”
So God jammed the bits together,
And made the platypus and you.

Poet: Charlene L. Amsden

I shared this previously, but it seemed the perfect poem for April Fool’s Day. This is National Poetry month and I will attempt to post a poem a day — some of them might even be new!

Quilly is the pseudonym of Charlene L. Amsden, who lives on The Big Island in Hawaii. When she is not hanging out with Amoeba, she is likely teaching or sewing. Or she could be cooking, taking photographs, or even writing. But if she's not doing any of that, she's probably on Facebook or tinkering with her blog.

    Good, Quilly, very clever writing. 🙂 Oh yes, I haven’t done this for a long time but Rabbit, rabbit.
    I’m glad even though God made the platypus first of the last, he saved the best he had for the very last, YOU.

    I’d like a poem a day but won’t have time for that. How about seven a week? Would that count? Blogger, now, today, owned by Google, lets me pick a date for them.

    1. Kay — the only “joke” I suffered was a friend who stood me up for dinner, but since I pretty much expected she would (because she’s a flake, not because she’s mean) I wasn’t surprised or upset.
