I am exhausted and sunburnt, but feeling good. Today OC and I volunteered to work the church car wash. We washed a lot of cars, trucks, vans and SUVs. I suspect that a few of my more sedate muscles will be griping tomorrow about the work they did today, but I’ll still think it was worth it. I had fun and got to play in the water.

Now, without further delay, a couple of the photos you have been awaiting:

A simple straight forward, generic shot of the ocean — just a couple quick clicks of the shutter to see how blue the blues were looking and if all the hues registered.

Then serendipity took over — although I learned from Gawpo that moments like these are angel’s gifts — a sea bird dropped into the frame.

And provided me with a shot I never could have made happen.

Quilly is the pseudonym of Charlene L. Amsden, who lives on The Big Island in Hawaii. When she is not hanging out with Amoeba, she is likely teaching or sewing. Or she could be cooking, taking photographs, or even writing. But if she's not doing any of that, she's probably on Facebook or tinkering with her blog.

  1. That last shot is a world-beater. I do suggest you not start posts grousing and end them with photos of where you live, though.

  2. i couldn’t post a comment before… pft.

i’m slightly envious… that birdie is a real bonus in the already spectacular landscape πŸ™‚

  3. Wonderful pictures, I can feel the spray of the ocean on my face. Thanks for the moment of serenity. Love to you, O.C. and the beautiful ocean πŸ™‚ Missing your wonderful laughter, things are tense here but we have many people for support and prayers; a special thank you for your friendship and your prayers.

  4. SN — 80F here. Nice and warm.

    Doug, I did not grouse,
    my feathers are ruffle-free.
    Try another bird, Dawg.

Melli — one I accepted with thanksgiving!

Polona — ah, but you don’t need serendipity or luck to capture great shots!

John-Michael — sharing is the best seasoning for all great memories. Thank you.

  5. David — I am about to add you to my blog roll.

Polona — ha! You have too many great shots for it to be chance. You know to look for things I don’t even see. Visually, I am all about the obvious. I know my talents are stronger with the written word.

  6. That is not only awe, it is some. Wow. As we were saying, there is more in our frame than might at first appear. And here is a PERFECT example, yes? Yes.

    Such beauty there. Sigh……

    xo, G

  7. Gawpo — the beauty here is obvious. One can’t miss it. The picture you took of a simple rehab clinic highlighted a much more subtle beauty.
