Punny Monday #42
Welcome to Punny Monday. Every Sunday evening about midnight Hawaii time I post an original photo and ask my readers to figure out what was going on in my brain (or Amoeba’s) when he/I/we made it.
What phrase (idiom) does this photo represent? EMAIL your answers and leave a comment designed to either help or confuse your fellow game players. The first contestant to EMAIL me the right answer wins a featured link in my blog which will display until next Monday when we’ll play this little game again. Enjoy.
PLEASE, do not write your guess in the comments. It spoils the game for the other players. Your guesses will be shared when the game ends. Oh, and just because someone announces they’ve won, doesn’t mean that they have. Please keep guessing until I post the answers!

NOOOOOO IDEA! I’m sending a silly though!
Melli — this is what a Mum looks like before it is fully in bloom.
I am going to defend myself by saying it is just too early in the morning and my brain is not awake. I don’t even have a silly one like Melli.
Meet My Mates #3 – Quilly
Nessa — I am glad you stopped by and tried to wake your brain. Better luck next week — that one is EASY!
Me. neither — no ideas, not even a silly one. But I’ll keep thinking on it through the morning.
I don’t know what type of flower that is…or whether the type is pertinent to the pun or not. I guess we’ll see!
CONGRATULATIONS Barbara! Did you kNOw they were mums? Or did you guess like me? They don’t look like OUR mums… our Maryland mums! Well… maybe they do… I dunno… mine are all DEAD from lack of sun!
Thank you! I guessed! I guessed a lot of “daisy” answers, too, because I thought they might have been related to daisies. Our mums don’t have a big center like that, but are mostly petals. But the petals looked like mums.
Melli — murderer!
Barbara — this is what a Mum looks like before it is fully in bloom.
After a sleepless night (maybe 1 hour of productive shut-eye?) I cannot possible guess…
Karen – -why not? I haven’t slept much since Friday and I still managed to make the post!
*possibly*
And I have a picture you can use, if you’d like (SnakeMaster took it)
Karen — if you’d like, do what SouthLakesMom did and put it up on your own blog. That way I get to guess, too! She just said I started the contest and she had a photo, too … it was kind of fun for me for a change. (And I didn’t get it!)
….
You talk too much.
Pretty yellow, no clue 😉
Mar — thanks. Sorry, this is probably an American idiom.
Wow, I don’t even know what kind of flower that is. I am so horticulturally challenged!
One really lame thought comes to mind.
Linda — it is a nascent Mum.
Abstractness yet again. Ya outdid yourself on this one LOL
Thom — you say that every week. I can’t wait until you see next week’s photo!
I just read about you on Nessa’s blog and earlier I read about your ‘adventures’ with Thom and Ella….and your ventures with Jientje so, I thought I would drop by and just say “Howdy” to the Punny lady.
Hootin’ Anni — you have stopped by my blog 3-4 times in the past several months. Once a few years ago I visited you every day for a month. You never came to visit me then at all.
Well I have arrived too late to even try which is good because my brain is still trying to catch up on missed sleep. I enjoyed scrolling down the blog and touring Hawaii with you and Tom and Ella and Jientje. I love how computers have shrunk the world and allowed us to become friends with people from all around the world. I’m hoping that now that all the construction and visits are behind me that maybe I’ll get my act together and be a better blogger again.
Raven — sometimes life takes president over blogging. That is just how it is.
Lately, even when you have posted, I’ve barely had time to glance. Maybe things will relax for the both of us.
Goodness gracious…don’t these people sleep? hehe
I would have guessed mellow yellow…
Pretty photo Q!
Shelly — my blog encompasses too many time zones for me to keep up with!
Yay for me – before I scrolled down, I guess mum’s the word.
Here via Nessa, by the way.
Secret agent woman — come by earlier next time and you could be in the winner’s list!
I didn’t have a clue, no point pretending otherwise…
But I did enjoy the process of getting to the not having a clue place 🙂
Alastair — I am thrilled that you enjoyed being clueless. I will endeavor to do it more often.
Remember to call your mum 🙂
Mar — if only I could.
I am very, truly sorry, Quilly, I am biting my tongue and hiding my fingers. I didn’t know…
Hmmm….something to do with sunshine and flowers no doubt.
Ian — actually, no. Something to do with keeping secrets.
I am just so happy to be able to see a Punny Monday!!! Computerlessness is not fun!!! Have missed you soooo much!! XOXOOX C
Nice to see you back again, Sis!
WOW, the answers are up early today. Looking at the photo, before I scrolled down, I thought about several possibilities though knew none were right. Then saw all my thoughts made it to the post… in the Wall Flower category, LOL. Great post Quilly!!
Alice — I got up to photograph the sunrise. I was up early so the answers are, too.
Yes, that works, lol. I wish I could get me up earlier some days. Oh well, it works as it’s meant to… and it might help if I got to bed earlier. And since it is coming up on 2am here… I bid you good night my friend. :o)
Darn… gotta remember that this puts the smiley in where I put the brackets & such. 🙂 Try that one.
Those are mums??
LOL
I think I need a flower book!
Susan — those are Mums. This is what they look like before they fully bloom.
obvious now it’s up – as it usually is. but my brain was dead from excessive work before…
Polona — I wasn’t certain that the idiom was universal, but I left this to the 59th second and had nothing else at hand!
A sunny flowering and turn around of the Hawaiian economy?
Aloha,
Keahi
Keahi — Hawaii’s Belgian visitor has certainly stimulated the economy in Makaha and China town!
Been out doing yardwork in our beautiful 73 degree weather and totally forgot to check this morning.
Good one.
Carletta — I think a beautiful fall day trumps blogging every time!
Imagine six people think as weirdly as you do.
Dr. John — that gives me hope.
Your answers were up quickly today, so I can say I honestly missed it. But I didn’t have a clue anyway.
Kelley — yeah, the flowers were keeping their clue a secret! 😉
