About the Author:

Suzanne Woods Fisher is the CBA bestselling author of  The Choice, The Waiting, Amish Peace, and Amish Proverbs. Her interest in the Anabaptist cultures can be directly traced to her grandfather, W. D. Benedict, who was raised in the Old Order German Baptist Brethren Church in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Benedict eventually became publisher of Christianity Today magazine. Suzanne is the host of a radio show called Amish Wisdom and her work has appeared in many magazines. She lives in California.

My Thoughts:
Even though this is Book 2 in the Lancaster County Secrets series, it is a stand alone story complete in its own right. It is also an excellent read. This is a story about real-to-life people who try to live in accordance with their own beliefs, but don’t always succeed — not perfect people, but people who suffer from pride, anger, jealousy and all of the other sins that plague you and me. This book, without being preachy or self-righteous, clearly portrays how wrong choices and sins impact families and even communities, and how faith and trust in God can heal.

If you like stories about strong, complicated and conflicted characters, you will like, The Waiting.  As I read I found myself impressed with how well Fisher individualized each character.  She also did an excellent job of creating a saga that read with the ease and tension of a fast-paced short story.  This book is staying in my personal library and the other books in the series will soon be joining it.
