Quilldancing Assignment #5

Your Writing Assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to write a complete story in 500 words or less using the scenario below to kick-start your thinking. Publish your story on your blog May 15th, then come back here and link it to my May 15th story.

Since (traditionally) May is the month of flowers and gardens, your story should include a garden, some kind of critter or creature, and this wonderful log.  (Photo courtesy of SouthLakes Mom.)

Happy Quilldancing!

Quilly is the pseudonym of Charlene L. Amsden, who lives on The Big Island in Hawaii. When she is not hanging out with Amoeba, she is likely teaching or sewing. Or she could be cooking, taking photographs, or even writing. But if she's not doing any of that, she's probably on Facebook or tinkering with her blog.

  1. The cool thing about that log is that all that grayish stuff around it is the root ball. The thing fell over during a storm, and when they cut it into pieces to liberate the path it was blocking, there were these perfectly hollow pieces. All the way down to the shot you see.

Thanks for the shout-out Quilly! Off to writer’s land to compose…

  2. .
Talk about a hollow tree! ‘We’ could have made some wonderful boats out of it. Maybe THEY did.
I have the story writing on my calendar. Thank you for the heads up.
