Life Through My Lens

#243 — Cowbird

Cowbird 2009.  Photo taken somewhere in Central Washington.

I’d parked the rental car in a rest area between Ellensburg and Moses Lake, Washington and got out to stretch my legs. I walked around for a bit, read the tourist info signs, and then returned to my car.   This cowbird swooped down, landed about 6 feet from me and started chewing me out.  I have no idea what my sin was, but I compounded it by hanging around long enough to take several photos of her in full tirade.

wow it must have been hard to get that close to the bird! or did you use zoom a bit far away? All in all a good shot. ^_^

  2. Quilly says:

Supri — I was about 6 feet away — sitting there before the bird landed — and I used a zoom to close the distance.

    ha, he looks agitated!
    great shot

Polona — he was cussing me up one side and down the other, but I don’t know why. I was in the parking lot sitting half in and half out of my car.

Just checked for the translation – nope, I have not seen this pretty birdie over here.

LOL at the cussing, guess you stepped on his Lunch 😉

Or maybe it was a screaming cowbird:

Nicole — I parked my car without looking — what if there was something tasty underneath? I actually wondered of there was a nest in the nearby bush and I was sitting too close.

  7. Quilly says:

Nicole — Amoeba’s class is finished and we are going home together. Neither of us want to leave, but that’s where we have jobs.

  8. Nicole says:

    Sad 🙁
But at least you will be together!

I guess that might be the more real reason (the nearby nest) 🙂

  9. Quilly says:

Yes, we always do better together! Neither of us cared for our short time apart.
