#262 Foxglove

Foxglove
Foxglove, 2009.

Foxgloves make me smile. I love their color, their little bell shape and their fancy leopard skin spots. I took this particular photo by the side of the road in Friday Harbor, WA, and I actually laid down in the ditch to get the shot. Intent on what I was doing, I didn’t know I was no longer alone until a woman jogging by came to a screeching halt and tried to help me up. That was very kind of her, but I didn’t want up! When I finally convinced her I was fine, she wandered off muttering to herself about weirdos and eccentrics. I wonder if she meant me? I wasn’t the one talking to myself!

Funny story! Of course photographers aren’t weird or eccentric, but we do put ourselves into some funny spots to catch the perfect photo, which you have done here!

Kath — hmmm, some of us ARE eccentric …

Sarah — yes, after I finally got up off the ground, I went home and told my Amoeba this tale and he was very surprised — since we were on a college campus — that the lady considered my behavior odd.

    June — thank you.

I have not been able to visit your part of the world yet but the more I see of it thru other peoples eyes the more I want to visit. If you were laying on the ground you were beside the right plant Foxglove Digitalis purpurea a very strong cardiac stimulant and they are beautiful

Joe — the part of the world this was taken in was Washington State, where I grew up, but in this instance was on vacation. I am currently living in Hawaii on Oahu.
