Morale Booster

Okay, I’m back and I have something to share. I don’t know how exciting you’re going to find it, but I am overjoyed:

I started at the gym on August 1st and went bright and early every morning until school started. Once school started I had to go to the gym in the afternoons. Changing the time I attended the gym meant I had to get used to different personnel.

Well, this morning I was at the gym bright and early, so I got to see Margaret, the lady who first signed me in when I joined. I actually got there before her shift started, so I was already in the middle of my exercise routine when she spotted me. I got to watch her facial expressions change from politeness, to recognition, to surprise, and finally excitement. I think she was more thrilled about how I look than I am.

She wanted me to come and weigh and measure, but I wouldn’t. I only do that once a month and my next scheduled time is January 2nd. I’ll wait. Still, the look on her face was a nice boost for my morale.

Quilly is the pseudonym of Charlene L. Amsden, who lives on The Big Island in Hawaii. When she is not hanging out with Amoeba, she is likely teaching or sewing. Or she could be cooking, taking photographs, or even writing. But if she's not doing any of that, she's probably on Facebook or tinkering with her blog.

  1. I think she was probably really glad to see that you stuck with the program as well, I’m sure she’s seen a lot of people come and go in that gym and she might have thought that you left as well since she didn’t see you there for awhile.

  2. Silver — she said she knew my friend and I were attending regularly, because every morning she does the attendance stats for the previous day. However, she doesn’t get to look at our personal charts without our permission, so she didn’t know how we were doing. Since I wouldn’t let her weigh me, I did give her permission to pull my chart and look at my stats.

  3. It’s always nice when someone supports you in your program.

Having a good vacation? Besides checking on spelling and copiers?

  4. I am so happy this happened to you!!!!!

I plan to start after the holidays, again, butyou have motivated me to stick with it so I can see the faces change on people.

  5. Isn’t it just the coolest thing when someone you haven’t seen in awhile gives you your props for your hard work! You go girl.

  6. Nessa — thanks. I really wish I looked as good as I feel. All in good time, I suppose.

Brian — my first offical day of vacation had it’s ups and downs, but the ups were super.
