Quilly is the pseudonym of Charlene L. Amsden, who lives on The Big Island in Hawaii. When she is not hanging out with Amoeba, she is likely teaching or sewing. Or she could be cooking, taking photographs, or even writing. But if she's not doing any of that, she's probably on Facebook or tinkering with her blog.

  1. Oooooo I LOVE it! Look at all those contrasts! Those clouds are just hangin’ there! You can almost see the strings holdin’ ’em up!!! That is gorgeous!

  2. This is gorgeous Quilly! Oh, how I’d love to be there 🙂 Much more peaceful than Carletta’s dueling ants, yes I’m friggin jealous too…is she great or what LOL.

Is that a lone man in your photo? Can I come visit? 🙂

  3. Oh, on second look…looks too young for me. Wow, you should be proud!
(I’m going to go clean something, my shots look pitiful)

  4. I’d like to file a complaint, please. It’s simply not fair that you have Hawaii to use as a photo subject while I have to shoot a hat in my garage under preconceived lighting configurations. Hee hee. Fantastic shot. And I love how humble you are! Can’t wait to see what’s next. 🙂

  5. You have every right to be absolutely proud of such a gorgeous shot!! and I loved Robert’s complaint, lol!
    🙂
I actually have the day off today but I thought I’d look !

  6. Melli — God uses string?!

    Anna — thank you.

    Annette — — thank you.

Debbie — some people just make it look easy. Unfortunately, she is much too nice so complaining about her leaves us sounding whiny and worse. And that IS a lone man in my photo, but his wife is sitting in the sand behind him with three kids …

    June — thank you.

Robert — ah, poor baby. Here, have a cookie …..

Nea — I love sunset, period; but the water does add and extra and awesome dimension.

Mar — day off?! I took one and my stats dropped to 40 and have come back up to only half their former glory.

    Gattina — thank you.

Raven — thank you, it has it’s perks.

Juliana — adjust your monitor. I see it just fine. Pale at the top, navy at the bottom.

Yo, Dawg, remember me? Ms. Pollyannna? Do you actually think I would cheat?

  7. And you have no need to be humble on this one! You have every right to be PROUD! It is fantastic. Great colours. Great shot and perfect timing. Any sooner or later would have changed the lighting and the whole composition. You definitely have a great eye for this – real talent!

  8. Dr. John — thank you.

Karen — I am so glad you said that! After Polona’s comment and OC saying it didn’t come out blue on his screen, I wondered if I was the only one who could see it.

Carletta — together we might even make a riot.

    Dot — thank you.

CarzyCath — I took 300 shots of this sunset. All I had to do was pick the perfect one.

    Photowannabe — — thank you.

  9. A wonderful picture of the Sunset, I can only imagine what the Sunrises look at. I miss my visits to the Ocean.

    thank you for sharing

  10. Tim — thank you.

    Photowannabe — thank you.

Bill — I have yet to see a Hawaiian sunrise over the ocean. We are on the wrong side of the island. It is on my list of things to do!

    Dillo — God is good!

Thanks for stopping by. I live in Southern Calif. We have taxes on taxes on top of the gasoline cost. I guess that’s why it’s a wee bit more here. Still…..

  12. Dillo — gas costs more in California than it does in Hawaii, despite all the extra shipping charges?

    Alice — thank you.
