It’s the Weather

He said, “You know, some of those little fish-shaped snack crackers would be nice.”

She reached over and grabbed the package sitting in the middle of the dining room table — where they’d left it after lunch yesterday. She opened the package and discovered, much to her surprise, that there were very few fish left. She poured half of the remaining crackers in a snack bowl and handed it to him, then stood staring into the sack.

He said, “What’s the matter?”

She answered, “I am just trying to figure out how it is I got one little handful of these crackers yesterday, and I am only having one little handful today, yet they are all gone.”

He looked innocent and shrugged.

“Did they swim away?” She queried.

He answered enthusiastically, “Yeah, something like that. It’s the humidity you know. They could survive in this air.”

She’s so not believing that.

  1. Thom — I so agree! If it weren’t for the ceiling fan I would probably be a much bigger puddle of goo then I currently am! Why don’t you put a pool in your backyard?

  2. We don’t have this problem to find valuable excuses. Here, everything strange was done by a cat ! and we have 5 ….

    • Lynne — we returned home from vacation and did the laundry, only then to discover that one of my favorite socks stayed behind in Friday Harbor. Maybe the fish have swum to get it for me.

  4. Sounds like a feeble excuse.
Just catching up on a lazy weekend for me. I Tweet all the time but have never yet told anyone where I am or what I’m doing. Twitter has so many other possibilities. And what’s this about a naked man called Tony? 🙂

    • Church Lady — they do. Go to Costco or Sam’s Club — even Wal-Mart, I think, and you can buy them in a big square box. We used to get them for our Kindergarten classroom – -which is how I got hooked on them!
