Did You Know?

I know that you are all aware that Quilly Cooks, but did you know that OC cooks as well? And not just on his trumpet! He created his own salad, and reworked a chicken recipe that caught his eye. I love it when it’s OC’s turn in the kitchen. He’s even a bit more conservative with the dishes than he used to be — plus we have a dishwasher here so clean-up is much faster.

Speaking of cooking — sort of — if you’re a salad eater and would like garden fresh greens but don’t have the time or space for a garden, you might want to click the link below and discover how one apartment dweller solved that problem. The site belongs to Brig, who comments here often.

Quilly is the pseudonym of Charlene L. Amsden, who lives on The Big Island in Hawaii. When she is not hanging out with Amoeba, she is likely teaching or sewing. Or she could be cooking, taking photographs, or even writing. But if she's not doing any of that, she's probably on Facebook or tinkering with her blog.

  1. Nope, I did not know he could cook….but then again I did not know you were still posting here OR that you had a new job (funny because I tell my husband all the time to “listen and keep your hands to yourself” before he goes to work.

I did comment on the other blog but will say again I appreciate your friendship and look forward to reading more of your posts.

  2. SN — oyster sauce doesn’t really taste like oysters!

Doug — I’ve never put him in the oven, but I guess I could give it a try ….

    TLP — so do I!

Lori — yep, still here! In fact, I have a half-dozen or so blogs. I don’t mind if you choose to read only one. I know time is limited. ALSO — every morning as I kiss OC good-bye and he heads for work I tell him to, “Play nice with all the other scientists.” He usually replies, “I will if they play nice with me.”

  3. I used to cook off and on. Glad to hear the OC does. I’m the one, however, who put the wrong kind of soap in the dishwasher and flooded the kitchen.

  4. Nessa — I don’t know that I’d care to give away too much of the cooking, but I am glad to let it go here and there.

Dr. John — I did that once many years ago. It isn’t the kind of lesson one ever forgets!

  5. haha, well I went back and read the jan 15 2007 post, so now I know about the cooking thing. But you have to admit, having someone who will cook once in awhile is very nice. Now if there was just a pixie that would do the dishes….sigh. haha

Where was I during the time you met OC? I must have been taking a break or something. Well I had a bad year medically, and I wasn’t very chatting for quite a while.

  6. Nea, you were actually in and out, but I think you missed all the relevant details. A lot of our more observant readers picked up the spark between OC and I long before we were ready to share it.
