Tomorrow we sign the lease on a lovely two bedroom house with a yard — in town!  We will live within 10 miles of our respective jobs.  The area is called Hawaii Kai.  It is an upscale address, but our house is quite small and modest.

But — even more exciting — I got home from work today to find that Ella arrived!  She got in about 4 o’clock this afternoon and, unfortunately, I did not get home until six-thirty!  The postal carrier put Ella in the big metal mailbox right out in the sun!  The poor girl was sweltering when I found her.

I brought her in the house, let her take a cold shower, and gave her a bite to eat.  She drank an entire gallon of the mint iced tea and then asked for more!  I willingly obliged.  She doesn’t seem to be suffering from heat stroke — which is an absolute miracle!

Ellie eats.

Ellie eats.

Ella is sitting in OC’s chair.  He doesn’t need the pillows, but she couldn’t reach the table without them.  She was quite disappointed at how early it gets dark  here.  Sundown tonight was at 6:18 p.m., so she had to take my word for it that she’ll be able to see the Pacific Ocean when the sun comes up tomorrow morning at 6:25 a.m.

Ella came to us via Insanity Prevails.  If you are an upstanding citizen and faithful blogger, she just might visit you, too.    But first you’ll have to convince Melli, you’ll take really good care of her little friend.

Show Me!

Robert from, Thoughts of a Father, is hosting, Show Me, his first photo project.  Rather than running with a theme for a week, Robert has a new photo request every day.  Today he wants to see me!

My schedule:

Monday — alarm rings at 4:45 a.m., I am ready for work and out the door by 5:30 and at work by 8:00.  I get off work at five do the crosstown crawl to OC’s office where we eat whatever I picked up for dinner.  We go to his Oahu Civic Orchestra rehearsal where he musics and I take photographs, write or just listen (I learned that I do have access to internet at Chamade University, where the rehearsal is held).  At 9:00 p.m. band rehearsal is over and we drive home.  Since night has slightly less traffic than day, we usually get to the condo by 10:30 p.m.

Tuesday — the same, except OC’s rehearsal is for the Honolulu Commuity Concert Band and there is no internet while I wait.  This past Tuesday night there was a horrific accident on the fhighway and we didn’t get in until almost mid-night.

Wednesday — I pick OC up after work and we start home.  Depending on “rush” hour traffic, the return home can take up to three hours.  Sometimes when we get home I cook, sometimes we stop for a sit-down meal (as opposed to take-out food eaten off styrofoam or wax paper at OC’s desk), the volume of traffic decides which we do.

Thursday  — Jazz Band practice ends at 8:30 p.m. rather than 9:00 o’clock, and there is no internet while I wait.  We’re usually home by 10:00 p.m.

Friday — looks like Wednesday, though we sometimes stop for a bit of weekend grocery shopping on the way home.

Saturdays — crash and burn.

Sunday — church and prep for the week ahead.
