oooo…your picture is so good my fingers remember how rough the boll is on the cotton.
I have never seen cotton in real life (except after it has been made into something else like cotton wool, wool or thread or whatever). This is the closest close-up I have ever seen of natural cotton. I wonder if it is soft to touch (like cotton wool) but AmberStar’s comment above makes me think it might be scratchy.
