#254 Lavender Forever

Lavender Fields

Photo taken at the San Juan Winery, Friday Harbor, WA. San Juan Islands.

The gardens at the San Juan Winery are a gorgeous riot of texture and color.  Did you know that Lavender is a member of the mint family? I was very surprised to learn that!

As I looked at the Lavender, I knoew I wanted a photo, but I really wasn’t expecting to be dazzled by the view when I raised my Nikon SLR to frame this shot.  To me, the Tiger Lilies in the background add interest and color to what would otherwise be a rather ho-hum composition.

    That shot’s awesome!
I didn’t know you guys have Lavender fields too.
I just managed to kill a tiny plant that I “stole” from my neighbours, sigh…
    I love Lavender 🙂

Nicole — I took this photo when we were in Friday Harbor, Washington — and yep, fields of lavender. Although this was actually a patch of lavender in the winery’s garden. You can see the color from the Tiger Lilies on the other side.

I thought to myself as I lifted the camera, “Why am I bothering to even look, it would be a boring picture — but my view finder revealed this glorious riot of color and I was dazzled!

Yes, I’ve found it!!! Off center to the right eh?
I love the deep blue color of the lavender, and then that gorgeous bokeh in the background! Nice shot!

Jientje — yep — a little glint that looks a bit like fly, I think.

Melli — the whole garden was dazzling. Too bad you weren’t there to walk through it with me.

Beautiful color in this one! And I guess your evergreen and sky is also from Washington.
