Ella & The Papaya Tree

Silly: Why did the elephant paint her toenails red?

Sally: Because she wanted to hide in the strawberry patch.  Why did the elephant paint her toenails red?

Silly:  You just told me.  She painted her toenails red so she could hide in the strawberry patch.

Sally: That’s ridiculous even for you.  An elephant can’t hide in a strawberry patch!  She painted her toenails red so she could hide in the cherry tree.

Silly:  I have never seen an elephant in a cherry tree!

Sally: See, it worked!

Today I happened to mention to OC that the Papaya Tree in our backyard is in blossom.  Ella let out a squeal and shot out the back door like a greased elephant.  OC and I looked at each other and shrugged.

All Ella heard was “Papaya Tree” and she loves papayas.  She shot around the house and shinnied up that tree quick as a wink — and found only flowers.  Needless to say, she was disappointed.  And that’s when she looked down.

She was no more than five feet above the ground, but I guess when you are only 14 inches tall, five feet is a looooong way.  She let out a terrified elephant wail and hollered for help.  I went out and rescued her, but not before I took this photo.

Weather Woes

It has been bleak and gray here.  The weather has given us more reason to stay in than go out.  Ella hasn’t complained.  I thought she was content with the Internet, 77 channels on TV, and dozens of videos to choose from, but apparently not.  Today when I returned from the grocery store, this sight greeted me.

It’s Not All Glamour

We’ve been busy while waiting for the net, and Ella wants you to know that even though she’s in Waikiki everyday, it’s not all glamour.  There’s a little romance, too.

Ella's Paramour

Here we are at the Waikiki Yacht Club.  Ella was wisked off her feet by a handsome young man.

Ella is our house guest.  If you would like Ella to come and visit you, contact Melli at Insanity Prevails.  She is Ella’s legal guardian and travel agent.

Ella’s New Clothes

Ella took her first paycheck and bought herself some stylin’ new clothes.

Ella's New Togs

I know we were supposed to have a Punny Monday, but we’re still stealing ‘net until Wednesday AND moving.  I forgot to plan ahead and we had no online access until just a few seconds ago — and I have to go to work.  Hopefully I’ll get it back together for NEXT Monday.  Hang on — I’ll be back!

WordCamp Hawaii

On Friday, October 24th, 2008, Ella and I will appear live and in person(s) at the Hawaii Convention Center.  We will be speaking to bloggers and would be bloggers about making personal connections online.  Sort of a blogger’s version of, “How To Win Friends and Influence Customers People“.  Well, that’s my portion anyway.

Ella will be telling people about Mascot Blogging.  She will discuss with them the possibilities and freedoms of having a virtual personality do your blogging for you — a feature which might be especially helpful to businesses, but is used by a few personal blogger’s as well.  I have seen dog blogs, cat blogs and even paperdoll blogs.  (See: Holly’s Never Everland for excellent [and hilarious] examples of unorthodox objects blogging.)

If you want to know more about WordCamp, click here:  WordCamp.  There is also PodCamp.  And if you want to know more about Ella and me at WordCamp, click here:  Ella & Me.  I understand that our presentations will be available on Podcast.
