Sailboarding

Sailboarding at Diamond Head, 2009
Charlene L. Amsden, photographer

There is a scenic overlook on Diamond Head road that provides gorgeous views. I like to drive by every other week or so and sit myself on the rock wall and soak it all in. The ocean is such an incredible color there, and in the Summer there is always a water sport or three going on.

I love this shot! It shouts summer and it looks like fun 🙂

  2. Melissa B. says:

The color is so vibrant and the composition spectacular. Those waves are like bookshelves set sideways in the ocean…

Nikki — it does look like fun, but it doesn’t look like easy fun!

Melissa — the color of the sea in Hawaii always amazes me. I have been here two years and am still dazzled.

The shades of blue are so very subtle in their differences. Beautiful! 😀

KC — If the sun is at the right angle the shades of blue are wild and varying. There is always something dazzling to see from the makai (ocean) side of Diamond Head.

Another one of these awesome ocean summer shots.
How can an ocean be so blue?
    WOW,…. 🙂

  7. Melli says:

THAT is gorgeous! Wish I was sittin’ on that wall too…

  8. Lew says:

Do you have winter there? I thought it was always summer. Beautiful image you captured!

Nicole — the ocean around Oahu comes in a remarkable palette of blues and greens that are just too dazzling to believe even in person.

Melli — you have until the endo fo December to get over here if you want free room and board.

Lew — sure we have winter. The temps go down to 70F and the locals all wear coats and hats and gloves and mittens. (I kid you not.)
